Build a simple SDS register
Start with one register for substances used by the business. Record the product name, supplier, SDS version or date, storage location, owner and review status.
Link SDS records to work
An SDS becomes more useful when it is connected to the job where the substance is used. Link it to COSHH assessments, RAMS, site briefings, photos and any spill or emergency records.
Keep documents current
Set a review habit for SDS files. If a product changes, the SDS and any related COSHH assessment should be checked before the next job uses that substance.
