What COSHH means
COSHH is about controlling substances that could harm people at work. In construction, that can include dust, adhesives, sealants, paints, fuels, cleaners, resins, solvents and other products used on site.
A useful COSHH process does more than file a data sheet. It explains where the substance is used, who may be exposed, what controls apply and what evidence proves the team has been briefed.
What to record
- Substance name and supplier
- Safety data sheet reference
- Task and location where it is used
- Exposure routes and controls
- PPE, ventilation, storage and spill arrangements
- Briefing and review records
How COSHH links to SDS
The SDS gives product safety information. The COSHH assessment applies that information to the actual task and site controls.
Zektrx connects COSHH Software for Construction, SDS Management Software and Construction Health and Safety Software so substance records sit beside RAMS, jobs and evidence.
Next step
Use the COSHH assessment checklist, download the Contractor Setup Pack, or start a ยฃ5 for 14 days trial.
