Start with the job, not the template
Good RAMS start with the actual work. Confirm the task, location, access, sequence, people, equipment, substances and interfaces with other trades before opening a template.
Write the risk assessment
List the hazards that apply to the job and describe practical controls. Avoid generic phrases that do not explain what the supervisor or operative must do on site.
Write the method statement
Set out the work sequence in a way the team can follow. Include delivery, setup, access, isolation, installation, inspection, waste, handover and any stop points.
Review and issue
Before work starts, check who reviewed the RAMS, which version was issued and who accepted it. Keep the signed record tied to the right job, not a loose PDF.
Zektrx helps contractors write structured RAMS using RAMS Generator, manage them in RAMS Software and connect hazards to Risk Assessment Software for Construction.
